Meet our university campus directors and their families. Each campus has a team that includes directors and support staff.

UL and State Directors

ERIC & ANABELLE TREUIL

Eric grew up on the West Bank of New Orleans - but it wasn't until he was a Junior (1982) at Nicholls State University that he came to full faith in Jesus Christ. Shortly after his conversion he helped pioneer Chi Alpha at NSU. Upon graduation he believed that God was calling him to stay and work with Chi Alpha at NSU. It was during this time that he met this wonderful Panamanian girl (Anabelle Elisa Garcia) - she gave her life to Jesus during this time and a year and a half later they were married December 14, 1985. They moved to UL (then USL) in 1987 to re-pioneer Chi Alpha and have served as lead pastors. They have three adult children: Ana Cristina, Victoria Isabelle, Benjamin Andrew. Our family hobbies include traveling and eating out - we are anti-chain restaurant and enjoy the more ethnic the experience the better!

Tulane University

MATT & JEN DEGIER

Jen and Matt moved to New Orleans to pioneer Chi Alpha in the city after training with Eric Treuil in 2003. Originally from the frozen north, they've settled in well to the Big Easy. They are now raising 3 boys (Lucas, Neal and Isaac) and Matt keeps busy directing Chi Alpha at Tulane and Loyola, while leading the citywide team. Besides Jesus, each other, their boys and campus ministry, Matt and Jen also love the outdoors, hiking in states besides Louisiana, keeping fit (in radically different ways) and reading (but almost never the same books).

McNeese State University

TONY & LINDSAY JONES

Tony and Lindsay took over the ministry at McNeese Chi Alpha on August 1, 2014. They met in Chi Alpha at UL-Lafayette where Tony gave his life to Christ as a Sophomore and Lindsay was furthered mentored in her walk with Jesus that she began at very young age growing up in a local church. They have 3 children: Blakelyn (the oldest), Brielle, and Boston.

Louisiana Tech

JENNI WEISS

God has uniquely gifted and placed us at Louisiana Tech. Jennifer is the director and her husband, Leland, is a mechanical engineering professor. Jennifer served with Chi Alpha at Washington State University before moving to Louisiana. They came to Louisiana Tech from Washington State and have served the University since 2008. Leland and Jennifer also have a son named Joshua who is the life of the party. The family is passionate about loving and making a difference in the lives of university students, faculty and staff at Tech.

SOUTHERN UNIVERSITY

JAMES & KELSEY PRICE

James graduated from the University of Louisiana at Lafayette in 2018, while Kelsey graduated from Texas Women's University in 2017. Both were active members of Chi Alpha. James and Kelsey met in Lafayette while Kelsey was completing her year in training with the Chi Alpha Internship. Kelsey decided to head to the University of New Orleans after her year in training with Chi Alpha. At the same time, James was gearing up to start his year in training with Chi Alpha. James decided after his training to also travel to New Orleans to be on staff with Chi Alpha at the University of New Orleans. James and Kelsey are excited for this next step of getting ready to pioneer Chi Alpha on campus at Southern University.

Nicholls State University

CECIL & KAYLA ELLIS

Cecil and Kayla are the Chi Alpha Directors at Nicholls State. They have three beautiful children; twin daughters Eryn and Payson, and one son, Sawyer. Growing up 20 minutes from campus and being alumni themselves, they have a deep rooted love for Nicholls State University. They also have a love of coffee and spending time outdoors!

Louisiana State University

JONATHAN & ALI BURAS

Jonathan and Ali Buras met while students at Louisiana State University. They both had their lives radically changed by the ministry of Chi Alpha at LSU and work every day to see that change repeated over and over in the students around them. After graduating from LSU (Jonathan in 2007 and Ali in 2008), they took a year to train with the Chi Alpha Internship program in Louisiana before moving to Oklahoma to work with Chi Alpha at The University of Oklahoma. After six years in Oklahoma, Jonathan and Ali were more than thrilled to have the opportunity to move home to LSU as the new directors and lead pastors of LSU Chi Alpha in 2015. They have two beautiful daughters, Addie and Lily who love to come to campus and see students.

University of Louisiana at Monroe

TYLER & BETHANY GERFERS

Tyler and Bethany Gerfers met during their college years at Louisiana Tech University where they both came to faith through the ministry of Chi Alpha. After serving as student leaders, volunteer staff, and interning with Chi Alpha at UL-Lafayette, they moved to Monroe in 2013 where they re-pioneered Chi Alpha at the University of Louisiana at Monroe. Tyler and Bethany's dream is to see students encounter Jesus in a life-changing way just as they did in their college years. They have three beautiful daughters Della, Lilla, and Mailla.

XAVIER University of Louisiana

ISAAC & MORGAN FULTON

Isaac and Morgan Fulton met while a part of the New Orleans Chi Alpha
ministries. They served at Tulane University for many years while
serving part time at different schools around the city. After many years
at Tulane, God grew their passion for the students at Xavier University.
They now serve as the directors of Chi Alpha at Xavier University LA.
They love being a ministry family alongside their awesome son Isaac
Anderson.

University of New Orleans

CHRISTINE & HILTON JOHNS

Christine and "Bubba" are Nationally Appointed missionaries for the University of New Orleans. Christine is from Clovis, NM, but graduated from LSU where she became a student leader in Chi Alpha. She completed the Diversity Project CMiT program in 2010 and has been the campus pastor at UNO for the past 7 years. Bubba graduated from Nicholls State University, and joined his wife in 2015 to continue working together reaching students at UNO.

southeastern

AUSTIN AND KATHERINE HOWENSTINE

Austin and Katherine both graduated from the University of Louisiana at Lafayette in 2020. They were both involved with Chi Alpha at UL for all four years as a student, and was where they both started to go all in for Jesus. Katherine works as a NICU nurse, and Austin will be working full time on Southeastern’s campus with Chi Alpha. Austin went through the Chi Alpha internship at UL, and served on staff at their Chi Alpha for one year after that. Austin and Katherine are expecting a baby boy, coming in September of 2022!
